Anthropic just dropped Claude Opus 4.7, and it's built for one thing: actually shipping code.

This isn't a minor patch we're talking major upgrades to coding ability, visual reasoning, and how well Claude follows your instructions.

If you've been waiting for AI that can handle real engineering work, this is it.

But wait, there's more:

  • Google launched a native Gemini app for macOS with screen-sharing that actually makes sense

  • Chrome's AI Mode now lets you browse websites side-by-side with your AI chat

I'm Alex. Welcome to L8R by Innov8.

Let's dive deep 🐰

  • Chrome's AI Mode gets side-by-side browsing and tab search

Claude Opus 4.7 Drops With Serious Coding Chops

Anthropic just dropped Claude Opus 4.7 to take over your hardest coding workflows.

This new model is built to run complex, multi-step tasks on its own with much less human hand-holding.

It wants to be a reliable operative, not just a creative chatbot.

The details:
  • Opus 4.7 packs a massive 1 million token context window and handles high-resolution images up to 3.75 megapixels.

  • A new feature called Rigor forces the model to write internal tests and verify its own work before giving you the final answer.

  • Anthropic completely removed standard API settings like temperature and top_p, forcing all users into an adaptive thinking mode.

  • Developers get a brand new API feature to set hard token budgets so autonomous agents do not drain their bank accounts.

  • Pricing stays exactly the same as Opus 4.6 at $5 per million input tokens and $25 per million output tokens.

Why it matters:
  • AI companies are moving past simple chatbots.

  • They want reliable agents that can act on their own in the real world.

  • Opus 4.7 focuses on consistency and self-correction for actual production environments.

  • Anthropic is also using this release to test new safety guardrails before they drop their even stronger, restricted Mythos model.

💡 L8R's Take:

  • Taking away temperature controls is a bold move that will make some developers very angry.

  • But forcing the model to self-verify its code is exactly what we need for real AI agents.

  • Anthropic is betting on strict reliability over endless tweaking, and I think they are dead right.

Google Puts Gemini Directly on Your Mac

You can finally stop switching browser tabs to use Google's AI.

Google just dropped a native Gemini app for Mac that lives right on your desktop.

It even sees what is on your screen to help you work faster.

The details:
  • Press Option + Space to open a mini chat anywhere, or Option + Shift + Space for the full window.

  • The app can see specific windows you share with it to debug code or summarize messy charts.

  • It connects directly to your Google Drive, Google Photos, and NotebookLM files.

  • You get built-in access to Google's newest tools like Veo for video and Nano Banana for images.

  • It only runs on Apple Silicon Macs and requires macOS 15 Sequoia or newer.

Why it matters:
  • AI is moving out of the browser and into your actual workspace.

  • Desktop apps let AI see your local files and active screens.

  • This makes the AI much smarter because it understands exactly what you are doing.

  • Google is finally catching up to OpenAI and Anthropic, who already have Mac apps.

Chrome's AI Mode Just Killed Tab Switching

Google just turned Chrome into a massive AI research engine.

You no longer have to copy and paste text between tabs to get answers.

The browser's new AI Mode lets you chat with an assistant while reading a page right next to it.

The details:
  • Google released a big update to Chrome's AI Mode on April 16, 2026.

  • A new side-by-side view on desktop opens web pages right next to your active AI chat.

  • You can click a new plus button to feed open tabs, images, and PDFs directly into your prompt.

  • This new feature is currently live for users in the United States, with a global rollout coming later.

  • Early testers report that running multiple tabs alongside the AI assistant will eat up a lot of your computer's RAM.

Why it matters:
  • Researching online usually means drowning in dozens of open tabs.

  • This update fixes that mess by keeping your AI helper visible while you browse.

  • It turns Google Chrome from a simple web viewer into a smart tool that connects the dots between different pages.

💡 L8R's Take:
  • I love the idea of never copying and pasting text into an AI chat again.

  • But Chrome is already a massive memory hog. Adding side-by-side AI to the mix is going to melt older laptops.

🚀 Quick L8R Summary

  • Claude Opus 4.7: Anthropic's new flagship crushes coding tasks and sees better than before.

  • Gemini for Mac: Google's AI now lives on your desktop with screen-sharing superpowers.

  • Chrome AI Mode: Your browser now splits screens so you can chat with AI while reading sources.
