Zhipu's GLM-5.2 Cashes In on US AI Bans
Zhipu AI just dropped a huge 744-billion-parameter model to scoop up Anthropic's stranded users.
The Chinese firm released GLM-5.2 right after the US government blocked global access to Anthropic's top models.
Now, Zhipu is offering a cheap, open-source fix for developers left in the dark.
The details:
GLM-5.2 is a Mixture-of-Experts model with 744 billion parameters and a giant 1-million-token context window.
It writes up to 131,072 tokens per prompt and uses High and Max thinking modes for hard coding tasks.
Zhipu charges about one-tenth the price of Anthropic's premium Claude Code tiers.
The company's stock jumped by 48% on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange on June 15 before closing up 32.8%.
Zhipu plans to release the model weights for free this week so developers can run it on their own private servers.
